stories and other goodness

*I have been unearthing my stories. Claiming them in their totality and believing (really + truly deep in my heart believing) that they matter. I came across this quote by Ben Okri a few weeks ago "Stories can conquer fear, you know. They can make the heart bigger." and I so fell in love with it! It's true, you know. When we hear stories that are authentic, that speak of the human experience in it's totality...we can be brave and share our stories too. When we hear stories that tell of pain and struggles...hope + joy...we can see parts of ourSELVES in them, can't we? So yes!!! Stories do make our hearts bigger!

*poured out my heart and sent in a submission this week. I did my best, told my truth and then...just let it go. Easier said than done and I still have moments of OMG!!! What did I do??? But then...I get over it:) The hardest part sometimes is just getting out of our own way!

*have been making time for solitary walks, artist dates, hot pots of tea, reading and writing. Going to bed early...reading magazines (swooning over Anthology, Artful Blogger and Flea Market Finds right now). I also managed to clean up my studio which was a raving mess, let me just say! I'm also making a few adorable crafts for Tara ...I just hope they turn out because ...uh...I can sew cushions but anything with patterns etc...I'll find a way to bungle it up:)

* been making bits of time to go into my studio and play! Creating backgrounds and experimenting. I started an art journal and I feel so free in there!! I find that my art is more expressive, soul(FULL) and is taking a new turn. I can be much more vulnerable with my words + images...it feels safer + more private.

*of course watching Tara grow up at lighting speed...she picks out her own clothes (and I love her fearless, sassy sense of style!), wants to do absolutely everything by herself and is a seriously amazing kid. I still can't believe I get to be her mommy and I wonder... how did we ever get along without her!
**Hope you all have a great weekend. We are going to be pulling out all of our Xmas stuff and decorating the house...tree and all!! Can you believe it's almost Xmas??? Where did the year go?
