(hair, makeup and...very good lighting!)
Ever since we got back from our road trip a few weeks ago, I have been in major makeover mode over here. This past year, I have turned into quite a schlump! I swore I would never let that happen...but it just kinda' snuck up on me! What with moving across the country, keeping up with busy-as-a- bee toddler Tara...plus my art, blog, etc has left me ...pooped. Every day I would just throw on some old clothes and put my hair in a ponytail and get going. Well, after our little trip, I was inspired to shake things up a bit and take some major time out for me. A few things I have been doing...
*I got my hair cut pretty short (for me) a few weeks ago. It feels fresh and lovely...I love it!
* I threw out all of my old makeup...I don't know if any of you are like this but I keep makeup from years (and years) ago!! Well, out it all went!
* got rid of clothes I had not worn in ages. Things that are outdated or too tight or too baggy or just isn't me anymore.
* increased our morning walks...these hills over here are killer workout for the booty let me tell you! We just get up and go every single morning.
*declutter, declutter, declutter!!
* I am reading these 2 books over here simultaneously and...just totally loving it. They just serendipitously arrived right into my hands a few weeks ago! Excavating your Authentic Self is so supportive and inspiring and...an amazing read. It is deep soul work to go through these pages and allow my true self to show. Plus I am thinking about all sorts of things in new ways. Love!
*I am updating my wardrobe. Nothing too drastic or expensive...just a few things here and there that are beautiful and comfortable and...me.
One of the things I have discovered is that when I act on my intuition and listen to my inner voice...all sorts of synchronicities happen! One right after the other. Like just a few days ago, I received the new O mag in the mail and the whole issue is about ...makeovers!! Oprah says this "the inevitable truth is that we are not meant to look or act the same year after year. Growth brings new potential...and when you are open to receiving them, the possibilities keep coming." I absolutely feel that in my life right now.

Good for you for your makeover and decluttering. :) We all need some airing through from time to time. :)
Soraya...I am right there with you!! I feel like I could have been the one writing this post.(Although I prefer you writing it because you have such a beautiful way with words!) Seriously...right down to getting rid of my 5 year old make-up. :) I think as women we happily take care of so many other people & things...that we lose ourselves a bit in the process. We can have it all...and deserve it. :) xxoo, Jen
You are looking so pretty Soraya, though you always do. It's good to have a shake up. Throw away all the old and dated things. I too keep make up for years and years.Perhaps it's time to ditch it all!
Oh don't give up your morning coffee...it's one those things that give pleasure (and a quick way to wake up!) but I love the other make-over ideas...good for you!
I had that exact haircut. It looks gorgeous on you. I've been thinking of cutting my also. I've had it long my entire life (except chemo time). Amazing how much makeup we can unload.
i am just loving all of your new artwork and photos here on your beautiful blog! so nice to see you on willowing! just starting to get back into my morning yoga routine as well :)
thank you for the inspiration!

Can you really give up your morning coffee? That's one of the things I really love about my mornings (among some other things). I like your new hair cut and all the change that is going on with you. Yes, I did throw out my make up as well - I don't wear any. Never. It's just not me. I've also given away a lot of my clothes. I tend to wear the same things over and over again, so out goes all the other stuff. I love to buy my clothes from a company in Sweden, so I don't do that very often and when I do, it really is something very special.
Letting go of certainty and being open to all possibilities is so what I am after myself. Kudos to you for starting!
