mish mash

(writing in my journal this afternoon)
This post is mish mash...full of random this and that. Today I was going through a box full of my journals/diaries/sketchbooks that went waaaay back to...when I was a teen! Yikes!! It was so interesting to see my growth through all of these years. I wrote about absolutely everything...through all the years of pain, isolation and desolation, of soul searching and mending...and nomadic living. Travels, joys, love, relationships, partings and beginnings...through marriage, deployments and "mammahood"...just everything. It was hilarious and sad all at once...do you know what I mean? I still keep a journal up to this day and one day I hope to leave them to Tara...they hold pieces of my soul; a glimpse of who I am and where I have been. I strongly believe in the magic of writing...it's healing, therapeutic, plain old fun and a journey of discovery. Nowadays my journals are full of gratitude because...life is really good, you know?

(work in progress-and my patchwork curtains!)
I managed to squeeze in some creative time this weekend...working on some backgrounds. Here is a current painting.. After I read through my journals I started thinking about how we are all ...works in progress. Isn't it funny to look back at how we have grown and stretched and changed through the years? I mean, parts of us remain exactly the same and then other parts are completely demolished and built up in new ways. And we can choose how to build ourSELVES every step of the way...we get to choose! No matter what our circumstances are...we get to choose our attitudes and  our behaviour...pretty powerful stuff!

(the view from my studio window)
My studio is almost all set up! Just a few more boxes to sort through and then I can set up a painting schedule. This is the amazing view from my studio window...isn't it gorgeous? The light is stunning here...it simply pours through the house like liquid sunshine. So so lucky! Oh! pics of my studio coming soon plus all my completed DIY projects.
* On a sad note...I have been watching the disaster in Japan. To hear  these stories of  tragedy and loss is heartbreaking. Thoughts and prayers...
